Postage

Postage options define the length of time in transit - from the time goods are dispatched from a warehouse to their arrival at the delivery address. They also define the days of the week delivery is available.

Naming your postage options

To reduce the effort in maintaining shipping costs, we recommend postage titles not include courier or geographical information.

Good examples

Limit postage titles to indicate delivery duration only.

  • Same day delivery
  • Next day delivery
  • Standard 3 to 5 day delivery
  • Saturday delivery

Bad examples

Including courier or geographic information in titles inhibits your ability to pivot your own choice of courier at dispatch, and will increase the effort in maintaining costs within your Shipping Calculator(s).

  • Next day Royal Mail
  • Standard Europe
  • Airmail to Germany

Maximum days for delivery

Each Postage option allows you to specify the maximum number of days for delivery. This should be the number of days in transit from when goods leave your premises to their arrival at the delivery address. Hence, a "Same day delivery" Postage option should have a 0 for the "Maximum number of days for delivery" and a "Next day delivery" would have a value of 1.
